WELL folks the EDL are going out to Newcastle again for a meet and greet. The last campaign we started against the Durham Darlington EDL ‘meet and greet’ in the Wheatsheaf pub was successful as the EDL were saying only a couple turned up on their page;
“Well was a good day today and nice to see a few new faces. Hopefully see a few of them new faces on future demos. Nit as many as expected however I think a couple of people might have been worried about the threats of trouble and violence which turned out to be the usual internet shite.”
(Spelling as in the original) – GOOD! There is no room for complacency however, we really must continue to help their organisation & politics crash and burn…
Here’s the details of the new one; “Newcastle Division Meet and Greet Event for NEWCASTLE – English Defence League ยท By Steve Hewitt and 5 others

CAMPAIGN letter to pub;
Dear manager at Pumphreys
This is a general enquiry. As a regular customer, I am fearful that your pub is in danger of being identified as a meeting place for right wing extremist groups.
The English Defence League are currently advertising on their web page an event where the meeting place for their activities is your pub. DO you know about it? I would like to seek reassurance from you that you operate within both the letter and the spirit of Equality legislation in order to provide venues where customers from all walks of life can feel safe to enjoy their excellent menu and selection of fine ales, as well as immediately surrounding your venue.
To this effect I would like you to confirm what your company policy is on the following issues;
The use of discriminatory language or that which is likely to inflame hatred relating to age, disability, gender, faith, race or sexual orientation by customers.
The display of banners or flags that are likely to incite hate crimes on your premises or around it.
The pub name being used in the advertising of meetings for extreme right wing activities.
I do hope to continue to use the pub as you offer a good customer experience but I am concerned that those visiting your premises will have a bad impression, and that I and other customers will feel threatened by such gatherings. Many organisations have equal opportunities policies and they also look unfavourably at others who do not practice them, and they also give business elsewhere by avoiding companies & venues which do not practice them.
I look forward to your reply.

Pumphreys, serves a little more than beer…..
